Submission: Review of Ministerial Diary Disclosure Practices Discussion Paper

December 15, 2025

Submission to the government’s consultation reviewing the Ministerial Diaries Disclosure scheme.

Meg Webb MLC has been campaigning since 2022 for meaningful Ministerial Diary Disclosures. The Legislative Council passed her motions calling for reform of this important transparency and accountability tool on three separate occasions:

  • In April 2022 Meg’s motion calling for the government to undertake public consultation on best practice models to inform a rigorous Tasmanian Ministerial Diary Disclosure framework was passed by the Legislative Council;
  • In September 2024, the Legislative Council passed another of Meg’s motion’s calling for the government to “undertake comprehensive and public consultation on a best practice mandatory disclosure of Ministerial diaries model, and that process is to provide for input into the design, disclosure details, timeliness, application, and any other related matter”; and
  • In September 2025 the Legislative Council passed the third of Meg’s motion’s calling for the above, and also requiring the government to report back to the Upper House by the 5th of December 2025 on any progress.

Third time lucky!

On the 10th of November 2025, Premier Rockliff announced a public  consultation process on reviewing and strengthening the Ministerial Diaries Disclosure system commencing with the release of a Discussion Paper.

You can find the submission Meg Webb MLC made to that consultation process below and as a pdf here.
