Kingborough Mayor’s Strong Community Contribution Recognised
24 April 2026
Independent Member for Nelson Meg Webb today responded to the announcement of Kingborough Mayor Paula Wriedt resignation, describing her 15-year council contribution to the local community as tireless, far-reaching and long-lasting.
“My Nelson electorate includes much of the Kingborough municipality, and I have seen first-hand the tireless contribution Paula Wriedt provided the local community since she was first elected to council in 2011 and becoming the first female Kingborough Mayor in 2021,” Ms Webb said.
“I have worked with Mayor Wriedt on a range of local issues including U3A access, supporting new citizens, representing council concerns regarding the Rockliff Government’s proposed DAPs laws, and a range of individual community members’ concerns.
“Ms Wriedt’s term on council and as Mayor leaves a far-reaching and long-lasting legacy and has set a high bar for community representation for future successors to meet.
“I wish Ms Wriedt all the best for her transition to the TasCOSS CEO role and look forward to continuing to work with her in that capacity as the community faces difficult and challenging times ahead.”
