MP calls for release of diaries
Upper House MP Meg Webb has called on state government ministers to release their ministerial diaries, something
she says is overdue.
Ms Webb asked for the April, May and June diaries to be made public on July 20, but they’ve yet to be made
available.
“The Premier stated at the time those diaries would be disclosed as per routine quarterly reporting practices,” Ms
Webb said.
“That undertaking should have seen the latest round of ministerial diaries disclosed by the end of July at the latest.
Yet a week into August, and they remain undisclosed.”
Ms Webb said it was important for ministers to be transparent.
“Quarterly disclosure of ministerial diaries is the absolute minimum of acceptable good governance practice,” she
said.
“A government … committed to acting on its transparency standards would ensure diaries were disclosed within
days of the relevant quarter, not over a month later.”
Health Minister Guy Barnett said he expected the diaries to be uploaded.
