Come Along & Have Your Say! How Open and Transparent Will Government’s Open Plan Be?

October 5, 2026

Should it be easier to see who is influencing policy, and how public money is spent?

Do you think Australia is doing enough to counter disinformation, or to protect the people who speak up when something is wrong?

Do you feel like you have a real say in what happens between elections?

Join us to have your say on these issues and more.

Come along!

On Wednesday evening of the 7th October I am co-hosting with Transparency International Australia a community workshop highlighting the opportunities for input into the development of the Commonwealth’s Open Government Partnership National Action Plan, number Four.*

This workshop wil be useful for all those interested in community advocacy, healthy engaged democracies, accountability, transparency and good governance.

This Plan is scheduled to be completed by December this year!
Now is the time to Have Your Say

Open Government: Have Your Say in Hobart

Wednesday, 7 October 2026
5pm – 6pm

The Forest Building, Room 1017, Floor L01

83 Melville St, Hobart

All Welcome – Free to attend

This workshop offers an opportunity for community members, local civil society and NGOs to find out more, and consider what commitments towards strengthening integrity, transparency, and genuine community engagement in government we would like to see.

Although this is a federal plan, it will impact upon our local communities.  It should also assist in setting the bar for how we’d like to see the Tasmanian government engage with civil society

Background Info

As an OGP member, Australia must produce a national action plan that sets out transparency, integrity and community engagement commitments that the government will deliver within a 2-year or 4-year timeframe.

Currently, the fourth such Open Government National Action Plan (NAP4) is being developed, or co-created, with all members of the public invited to contribute what they would like to see to improve accountability, transparency and integrity in government.

The NAP4 is expected to be finalised during October – December this year.
