Many policy and local matters span both the electorate and parliament.

Here are some of the key current issues I am working on.

UTAS - Sandy Bay Campus

As the sole university operating in the State, the University of Tasmania holds a place of significance for many Tasmanians. It is essential for the social, cultural and economic development of Tasmania that the University is able to successfully deliver on its central mission of teaching and research to a level of excellence.

However, recent serious community and academic alumni concerns regarding  governance, educational, and workplace culture at UTAS, has significant ramifications for both the state parliament’s responsibilities, and for communities within the electorate of Nelson.

Planning in the Public Interest

A robust evidence-based, democratic and transparent planning system that provides a level playing field for all, is vital for social cohesion and securing a sustainable future for the state. 

Our statewide planning system impacts on all Tasmanians, and currently many are alarmed by recent attacks on our .planning framework and the implications for our natural, cultural and urban heritage.

AFL Stadium

The proposed AFL Stadium on Macquarie Point in Hobart looms as a controversial and divisive spectre on Tasmania’s political horizon.  It raises serious and long-term financial, governance and equity concerns for the state and the community.

Affordable Housing for All

Affordable and safe housing is a human right for all.  There are a range of contributing factors to the current housing crisis, but with political will driving a compassionate and evidence based approach, we can turn this situation around.
