Meg delivered her main speech (second reading) to the Electoral Disclosure and Funding Bill 2022, on Thursday, 14 September 2023.
The Legislative Council’s final vote (third reading) was held on Thursday the 16th of November 2023. Both Meg’s contributions on the second and third readings can be viewed below.
Meg’s second readng speech:
Despite working to amend and strengthen the Bill, particularly following Labor’s shock announcement they were dropping their proposed amendments to allow the government’s Bill to proceed largely unaltered, Meg felt the final Bill as considered by the Legislative Council remained fundamentally inequitable and flawed.
Meg was one of the 6 independent Legislative Councillors to vote against the Bill at its final third reading vote held on Thursday the 16th of November 2023.
